B16 or GSR tranny lsd
the car is a 92 civic hatch dx, 94 gsr motor, supercharged 12lbs
the tranny i have has no numbers on it and has been painted so i don't know what kind it is, i think its a b16 cause the gears are really short, like 10mph tops in 1st gear and i'm at 3500rmps at 60-65mph on the hwy, but i talked to a guy who rebuilt it a while back and he thinks he remembers it had a gsd diff inside of it.
Now that the motor is boosted i need to buy and install an lsd, I'm only around 245whp and i want to spend as little as possible ( like either a oem diff or phantom grip ) since i can't be sure which tranny i have, what should i do, is my only option taking it apart and then ordering the parts. I'm temped to buy the phantom grip for the b16 and the gsr and just return the one that doesn't fit.

yeahh pretty sure you have a b16 tranny. but i really like your set up. im tihnking of going gsr supercharged too. do you daily drive it? and what do you have done to the motor?

here i have a video with the car driving from 1st to 3rd but i didn't get any traction, i got new wheels and tires since then (thank god) but its still pretty bad
the motor was rebuilt before i put the charger on, all i really did was add apr studs and bolts, comedic head gasket, type r oil pump and type r valve train ( with duel valve springs on both sides ) and type r cams, CAI, and full size radiator
all i'm really worried about is what the air intake temps are but i'm going to install a gauge on to the manifold or somewhere soon.
other then that the car is amazing i have been daily driving it for acouple months now and its been dream, almost no maintenance, way better then all the turbo cars i have had and the instant power feels sooooooo nice, i haven't really raced it yet but with the 1st tune i got, it was only tuned to 7k and made 215whp and from 2nd to 5th i beat a c5 corvette like no problem. (the video is from the 1st tune) retuned it made 245 whp,
but with LHT intercooler thing i will gain 30-40 more HP so they say,
the best part is not always popping the hood and trying to figure out whats wrong or what that noise is, its just been really nice.
no to mention the whole build was petty cheap

dang thats nice man. if i were you id try to get a gsr or ls tranny. so you axtually have more time in each gear to get traction cuz obviesly you have the power.
but yeah gimme more on the info of the set up cuz like i said thats what im looking to do next. how much was the rebuild and all that good stuff?

i think its a b16 too, i just wish i new for sure.
as for the build i have about $4500 in to it, i rebuilt the motor, tranny and supercharger all at the same time ( i talked to the guy who rebuilt the tranny, he doesn't remember what it was all he told me was that he had to replace 3rd gear and he used a type r 3rd ) I tried to leave as much stock as i could with the build. i wouldn't have done anything different, its been a super nice to drive.

wow thasts not bad at all. for the whole motor, charger and parts? or just charger and parts? im thinking of getting a jdm gsr with lsd tranny and some head work. cant wait till i gat aound to it. i seen you have a single can supercharged. idk if im trippin but did i see a turbo on it too? lol

no the hatch is a supercharged gsr swapped eg hatch and i bought the car already swaped but the tranny was missing 3rd and the motor smoked when it hit vtec, right after i bought it i took it all aprt and rebuilt eveerything i also add rsx seats, radio, wheels, paint job, and anything else i'm missing for Another $1500, i just did it over time.
the red one is a civic coupe i got for like $1500, i bought a used ebay turbo kit for $315 (the whole kit), put it on, got it tuned for $300 and then traded it for the hatch. it was a sweet deal the single cam on 7lb of boost was like a little faster then the gsr swap alone. but man did i get good gas milage with the single slam turbo
