Any one here have experience on welding cast aluminum trans cases? I would like to reinforce the cases on my AWD Nissan Bluebird but I don't have much experience on welding cast aluminum. Which filler rod would be ideal for this? Any tips or suggestions would appreciated. Thanks

 

hey man i wouldnt weld on your tranny case unless its cracked, but with bracing it i would build adapter brackets to hold it, i wouldnt weld them to it sounds like trouble in the future, but if you really just want to weld it tig rod #6061 but i have welded a good bit of cracked trannys and there weak where you weld them because of the cast,and normally eventially crack over the years where you welded them

 

I have done research on tranmissions, people have done all types of things to try to keep them together and it doesnt work, but havent seen anyone trying to weld them so thats why I would like to try it to see if it works . I have 5 of these tranmissions laying in my yard so it wont hurt to try one.
