Default How long does timing stay retarded after knock detect ?

I am curious to know how long does the timing stay retarded after it has been retarded due to knock detection ?
Does it try to fall back to its original(advanced) setting right away ? or does it stay that for x number of strokes ? or a certain amount of "time" ?

This is more of a general question but more specifically for post-98 and pre-03(6th gen?) V6 engines. (2001 Acura MDX).

Thanks!

fast you would have to do a snap shot of it on the hds and see the film to see it work.

Hi dtapia, thanks for your response!

So the timing will jump back up to advanced right away (ofcourse if no subsequent knock is detected) ?

but I just want to make sure you understood my question correctly, just in case -
I am not asking how long would it take for the pcm to react to retard the timing. I realize that would be very quick - that's why you dont really "hear" the knock.
What I am asking is how long will the timing stay retarded before it would come back to its original advanced timing if knock is no longer detected.
Lets say timing is at 30° and it detects knock and retards it to 16° (just example), then how long will it stay at 16° ?
