So i have an ls swapped ex coupe... the problem im having is an irratic idle and sounds like a huge exhaust leak but i only have one minimul leake near the back. The other day i replaced the intake manifold. not sure if i hooked up all the coolant lines correctly though if anyone has a diagram that would help out alot. Im no noob with hondas either just havnt built one in a while so im drawing a blank here.

Any thoughts on why my car is crazy loud with a jumping idle from 1k to 1,5k??????

is it idle purging? if it is it may be your IAC

 

clean your IACV

 

a vacuum leak will cause that too, fix all leaks first!

 

did you retighten the im after 200ish mile of driving?

if not that could be a problem, retorque them they get a little loose

 

i havnt really driven the car since i put the new im on. as soon as i styarted the car it was crazy loud and the idle was jumping around like crazy. would a vaccum leak cause both these problems?

 

anyone else stumped like i am??

pull your intake off and start the car then cover the tb if the car dies no vaccum leak if it stays runinng you got a leak.

 

spray starter fluid over areas where you might have a vacuum leak on the im

if the car revs up on its own; there's your vacuum leak

 

When i pu my hand over the tb, the car bogged out bu then kept running. So i def have a cacuum leak. Also when my hand was over the tb and my rpms dropped it sounded as if my "exhu leak" sound disapeared.

What to do now????

 

You either forgot to reconnect one of the vacuum lines or the throttle body gasket or IM gasket is leaking.

check all that and do it again.

 

So i replaced the im gasket. no more vacuum leaks. put my hand over the tb and the car died out....

Now another weird thing is happening.....

The car will idle around 1200 when its cold but when it warms up it drops to almost 0.
When you hit the gas it feels like its misfiring.... doesn't really allow you to go above 2k.


Where do the lines on the black box on the back of the im go... i know the one on the left goes straight to the tb... but where does the right one and the other line on the tb go? its confusing the hell outta me.
