Hatch lock vs trunk lock

Hatch lock vs trunk lock
Is there a difference? theres a lock set from a 4 door on ebay that i want to throw in my hatch can i use the hardware from the original hatch lock and put it on the trunk lock? is there any resonable way to make it work?
