Its not anywhere near a bolt in affair. From what I recal it was about the same amount of effort to install a K-series. It will be far easier and cheaper to just drop in another D16Y7.

I wouldnt touch a D17A2 with a 10' pole. Just get another Y7 bro, itll probably be cheaper too.

The D17A2 comes from 2001-2005 Civics. There is not a lot of potentials for the D17A2. It's like the K series mount of the D series. If I were you i'd sell it and just buy another swap. Don't want to mess around with the D17A2. You can spend thousands for internal work and only get about 10-20hp gain.So you mine as well Supercharge it or Turbo the thing for real HP gain.
I mean I drive a 2005 Civic Ex SE. I just like the whole body of the EM2. But as the motor, it's not that great. Just get a D16Y7 or do a mini me swap and add a Vtec head.

Here's the specs for the D17A2

Displacement (cc): 1668
Power (bhp@rpm): 127 @ 6,300 rpm
Torque (ft/lbs@rpm): 114 @ 4,400 rpm
Compression Ratio: 9.9:1
Bore (mm): 75
Stroke (mm): 94.4
Cam Design: SOHC
Valve Train: VTEC

Oh and I've heard Vtec engages around 2.8k RPM. Still have to look for that.

I'll also let you know, this engine (D17A2) is badged as a VTEC engine, but it functions as a VTEC-E. I tore this engine down and to my surprise only had 2 cam lobes on the intake side, and only 2 intake rocker arms. I've been searching about this, and if you look around at the right sites, you'll be notified it functions as a VTEC-E, and not the performance oriented VTEC.

VTEC-E basically operates as 3 valves per cylinder until VTEC engages and it is ran on 4 valves per cylinder, but does not operate the cams hotter (cams opening more).

I know, it's a horrible fact :[.
