both condenser and radiator fans not working on 91 accord lx
both of my fans are inop with the car on and a/c on but the cooling fan will work with the car off. I have checked alldata and from what i figure my problem is the condenser fan diode? can anyone help?
run 12v to the fan motor for each fan (with test leads) to confirm both work. [you said rad fan runs under certain conditions so you only need to test condensor fan]
if fans are good, check wires. check all connectors for loose or corroded pins. double check fuses. check thermoswitch: jump the connector at the thermo switch (w/ key on, engine off.) if fans run, bad thermoswitch.
there may be a few more things to check, but this should be a good start.
i am going to do that i replaced the one on the outlet i will check them both but the one on the thermostat housing is hard for me to get off, but that would only be for the cooling fan
i tested the condenser fan relay connector for power and ground on both sides and both were good so im pretty certain that is one fan problem down. on coolant temp switch A on thermostat housing both pins were grounded where one should have 6V power but when i check power i get 1V so i havent quite figured it out yet, but it seems like high resistance in the power wire, i get no continuity to ground on the pin so i don't believe its a short, but when i test voltage from positive terminal to both pins i get battery voltage.
