Can u Polish after a paint job?
My brother just recently got into an accident, and they re-did his front end.
he wants to know if he can polish the car.
he knows that you cant wax the car after its been painted, but polish has different chemicals, so he wants to know if it is safe?
thanks

i wouldn't..... let the paint cure and harden for atleast two weeks.... you might not even want to wash it for a week or so to avoid swirlies!!

Waiting to would be the best route IMO
he got the car back about 2 weeks ago, and wants to have it shiny for this show/bbq next week,
so about 3 weeks out of the shop.
polish is alright?. just no wax?

You should wait at least a month before you wash/polish/wax the freshly painted surface. Even washing the car so soon after its painted can cause damage to the finish. I'm not a pro but I do get paid well to detail friends cars on weekends. I also have alot of friends who are bodymen or painters and they recommend the same thing, to wait.

I have been told by a couple of different body shops that you can wash the car real soon after the paint is done (might want to wait a week to be safe), but you should wait about 90 days before any kind of polish/wax/etc. is applied.
