Default main relay fix?

ok, ive seen the thread for the main relay fix. i cant seam to find the post. what my issue is i just pulled the car off of the rack at work and it stalled and wont restart. i do have a loud fuel pump, and since i cant hear it i know its not powered up. checked the main relay and no power out. once out the relay smells like a western store, that fresh leather smell, no like a fried amp. i remimber talk about a bad sader spot on there..... can any one point me in the right way?

I am in the same boat as you, I just towed my car home after working most of the night on it at the parking lot of my work only to narrow it down to the fuel pump. I don't know much about soldering the main relay but you can buy a replacement online for like $40 that's what i did... even though I didn't answer your questions, hope it helps.

You can either replace the main relay, or resolder the contacts on it. My 88 Prelude is suffering from the main relay problem. I've just been to lazy to pull it out and fix it. Once in a while when it's hot out, after i've been driving around, if i park, and then come out to drive it again, i'll get nothing. I have to keep turning the key from acc to start several times until the main relay engages the starter. It's annoying. When the main relay is cold, the cracked contacts are closer, making better contact. When it's hot out, the cracked contacts expand, making for poor connections and resulting in not being able to start it up from time to time. Maybe i'll just say f*ck it and buy a new one. I work at Honda.

ok the fuse is fixed now, but i keep blowing fuse #4 under the dash. have another one on the way. ill get to see if the fuel pump is over loading the circuit or if its just a crappy relay. oh by the way the car is boosted, with hondata, and a tre pump.

I've been having the same problem, bought another main relay from ebay hoping it wouldn't have been a malfunctioning one.. ends up doing the same thing but just not as often. Time to get to soldering :/

well get to work today and it works fine. i put a amp meter in line and .5 at idle and at the point it was stalling out it hit a max of 3 amps, no were near enough to pop a fuse. i think i may be chasing a frad wire at this point.

funny thing....checked all of the wires under the dash and i didnt find any bad spots, or even rub marks on anything. unplug all of the meters and scaner, since i cant make it f-up. i back out of the shop, shift a few times while driving circles in the parking lot and nothing. try to go to the stop sign and it blows a fuse, replace it and again b4 i can move the car at all. i found that when im letting out on the clutch, about 3/4 of the way out and it stalls. double checked and nothing in the way of the clutch arm......

"neutral safety switch"? the relay that keeps our cars from starting if in gear w/out the clutch being depressed. just a thought

ok i feel like a bumd *** now. the ho2 sensor that i move to what i thought was a "out of harms way" caused the issue. the movment of the exhaust front to back caused it to rub on the cross member and creat a short to ground when the motor went back to a relaxed position from take off.
