Default ATI Damper part #918471

I was looking at adding this on my build, not really going to drive
the car on the street everyday but once in a while I would like to take it out...

I see here and there that this race damper wont power my headlights etc...
Can anyone help me with this! all feedback is helpful,

Thanks George

The race dampner will. The street version comes with both alt and power steering pulleys(it may come with the ac pulley also but I do not know)
However the race version only comes with the alternator pulley.
So yes the race version will power your lights and radio!

A damper wont power your headlights????

What does one have to do with the other? It just spins the alternator, if you headlights are dim theres something wrong...

I think he meant b/c the dampner underdrives your alt so sitting in traffic it may not supply enough power to your alt to power the headlights and other accessories. But yes the race dampner will drive your alt enough to power your headlights, radio, mp3 player and so on.

Actually, the race damper will not power much at idle. At idle with my fan on (high current fan) my batt voltage drops down in the mid 12's or so. If it idles long enough it'll start draining the battery. Once you rev it a bit it's totally fine, but the alternator output once underdriven that much is pretty low. The race pulley on the ATI damper is really small.

Pretty much what I said but left out the idle vs driving.

The same thing was happening to me as Tony at idle it was around 11.5-12Volts give it some gas and it would go to 13+ volts, i was concerned with mine because i thought it wouldn't supply enough power to open my boost solenoid, luckily it had enough voltage to open it.

George,

I got your pm. I have been running the Fluidampr race pulley with just the alt belt. I have not had any problem with it at all, but I have not been sitting in traffic for 30 mins with the headlights on. I don't think you will have a problem with your setup man. You should be fine and if there is an issue, rev it up as others have said.

What battery are you running?

ATI race damper works just fine. My cousin installed one on his type R and it works fine, yes the voltage at idle is around 12v. He has no problem.

I also though it was gonna be a problem for a street car but its not. I will be removing my street damper and upgrading to a ATI race damper
