Y7 Block Z6 Crank which pulley?
Trending Topics
here is the biggest problem that i came up on.
yes the crank fits...but my concern was timing as i stated
obd1 = 14-16-18
obd2 = 10-12-14
so i dont even know how to even time that let alone time it with a timing light on the tbelt cover.
i thought that the main oilings were different on the d15b then the 1.6?
well i know to do that...but just like using a z6 gear on a y8 you have to advance it 4.5 degrees...
the z6/y motor key ways are different on the cranks thus meaning even if you set pulley to tdc and cam to tdc you are already off timing.
now the question is how much to advance or retard to compenstate.
if you set the pulley to TDC your timing marks are off on the pulley so when you go for and dizzy/ignition adjustment you have nothing to go by...

i didnt set TDC using that anyway. I set it by putting the oil stick in the last cylinder and moving it until it was @ TDC, then adjusting the head accordingly.
i get what you are saying about block being at TDC and head having the cam lined up.
Thats not the problem. The problem is now that the pulley is off timing. How much timing do i need to retard or advance with a y7 pulley on a z6 crank.
How did you set your ignition timing meaning when you are adjusting your distributor and flashing your timing light on the pulley how much do you advance or retard or how much do you advance or retard on the cam or either or.
for example i ran a y8 cam and z6 gear for the longest time and i had NO idea why i couldnt get the car timed right...turns out if you use a y8 cam and z6 gear i needed to advance the timing on the cam 4.5 degrees.
If i had a z6 cam and y8 gear i had to retard timing on the cam gear 4.5 degrees...
didnt you build a super y8 high compression 160 hp motor? i think i remember your thread.
