New welder..Miller?
Had my Harbor Freight welder stolen, so I am looking to replace, and upgrade. Right now I am thinking about getting the Millermatic® 180 Auto-Set™, It will be around $800. Couple quick specs:
Input Power
- Requires 1-Phase Power
- 230 V, 21.7 A, 60 Hz
Rated Output
- 135 A at 22.5 VDC, 30% Duty Cycle
Welding Amperage Range
- 30 - 180 Amps
Wire Speed
- 40 - 460 IPM (1.0 - 11.7 m/min)
What else is a comparable machine, preferably for less or equal money out there?
Thank you very much!

Lincoln and Esab both have comparable welding machines:
Esab's MigMaster 173

Lincoln Electric Power MIG 180C

Not sure on the prices but those have similar specs.

I am currently in the market for the a new MIG as well. My old one was a cheapo 110V that just isn't cutting it anymore. I settled on the Millermatic 180, which is ~$800 -$50 miller rebate. Does anyone know of a good website that has a coupon code available that I could order it from?

any millermatic is pretty good tho i used to use a 180 had good results with it. happy hunting
having the 110v option is nice, but personally i don't like welding with it, you can get an adapter that turns two 110v wall sockets into one 220v (not quite as good as the real thing but its close)

i have never done one myself but you can diy one with parts from a well equipped hardware store.
i don't know enough about how alt. current works to say how to do it. i'll see if i can find some info on it
edit: you may also be able to buy one at said well equipped hardware store.

I think with those multi plugs, it has to be 2 wall outlets that are on different breakers. I think??, I havent looked into them enough to know for sure but make sure if you plan on going that route
