Why do I get leaves and junk blowing in my face in my Del Sol?
Ok the only thing I dont like about my del sol is every time I turn on my heater or a/c I get dust and leaves and tree seeds blown in my face and all over in the car. I do park under tree because its the only place I have in front of my house. I did notice there are about 50 1/2" x 1/2" square holes in the plastic where the air is sucked in between the windshield wipers.
I am tempted to get a piece of steel screen door screen and cover these holes with it and try to keep the leaves and junk out.
Anybody else have this problem? Any better way of fixing it?
thanks

My point is the vent holes under the windshield are huge. I think everyday I get new leaves and seeds falling in then I turn the fan on and they blow in the car. I will clean the motor case out but I have to stop them from getting into the case, somehow?
those vent holes dont go directly to your in car a/c-heater vents tho....clean out the blower motor case and get a car cover at autozone!
well im not very familiar with del sols, but my guess is its like my hatch and you don't have a cabin filter. so theres nothing stopping the leaves and stuff from blowing inside the car.. theres a DIY of using a crv cabin filter somewhere.

They are right above the fresh air vent, so if they are broken, or larger than normal, anything that size can get in there.
You may have to get a new cowl (appx $135), or one off a junker (clips are appx $15). You may be able to ziptie some kind of screen to it, but its best to fix it right. You can also leave the switch to cabin air, and that should keep the leaves out till you fix it. It shuts the big door right under the cowl.
And the other part of the post was correct, you have tons of leaves in the fan. Not sure if you can pull it out with the dash in, but its really not that hard to pull the dash (see Courtney's build). Then you can get in there with a vacuum, and get the leaves out of the A/C condenser too, if you don't want to have to recharge your system (plus a new dryer).
I have my whole system apart, for new carpet and cleaning. I'm going to weatherstrip the whole thing too. I had a TON of leaves in everything. Now I'm not sure, but I may put a screen in the fresh air vent, when I put it back.
^^^^ excellent way to tell! leaves are totally green when they fall out of trees...... oh wait thats not right.
i have the same problem in my hatch because i recently removed my evaporator and now nothing is stopping the debri from getting blown right into the cabin.
im thinking of putting some type of screen/filter inline before the blower.

Yeah, its a great post! and works fine, as long as you didn't already get a new A/C coil, and Expansion valve lol.
But really I'm thinking of putting a screen on the fresh air vent when I put the fan back, but since it's out in the open and exposed to the weather, I'm not sure what to use. Metal screen would rust, and I'm afraid window screen wouldn't hold up. Plus how to attach it is another question.
I'm gonna ponder it, and let ya know what I find.
Oh, and I'm still going to want to get a filter (once I need a new AC system in the future), but thats for filtering out both, I'd like to stop the leaves before they even get in the fan.
