no spark
my car was running very spotty, bogging down. then one day it just died all together and wouldnt start back up. It was giving me a 21 code. vtec solenoid, i thought it was the distributor... so i cleaned out the solenoid and it still wouldnt start. so i checked the spark, none at all. i had the coil and the igniter tested. the igniter was bad so i purchased a new one and still no spark. i put a new rotor cap and distributor cap on, still no spark. At this point i'm lost and completely frustrated. Could it be that i just need to repalce my distributor?
Thanks

this thread has ignition related info in it.

Also retest the ignition coil just to be 100% sure.
i purchased the ignitor through autozone, and i had them retest it after putting it in. the coil read properly in ohms. i know it could still be wrong. but idk if i should go ahead and try a new coil or just try replacing the dizzy...

Check your ignition coil..
-Make sure ignition switched is turned to off position
-Remove the dizzy cap
- Disconnect the primary electrical connectors to the coil
- Using an ohmeter touch the probes and compare your results to the values listed.
Testing Ignition coil
Primary resistance 0.6 to 0.8 ohms
Secondary resistance 12.8 to 19.2 k-ohms
Also test your Ignitor (ignition control module)
- Check for battery voltage to the ignition module
- Check the ignition circuit and related componets if there is no voltage to the ICM check the circuit from the ICM to the battery. First check the ignition switch fuses (under the hood fuse box)
- If you get no voltage from the ICM.. Trace the wires down.. See if there is a break in the wire..
- Still no voltage? Your Ignitor is most likely dead.. Replace the ICM.
check the connecter on the dizzy im not sure which lines to check because there r many but check that with a light tester and meter be sure to wear protection or u gonna get a hella shocked if u have a chilton manual or sum (15-20 buck) they will show which power wires
CHECK YOUR GROUNDS! I know it sounds dumb but my GSR was parked for a year because of electrical problems (and manifold delays). Just check all your bases because the easy **** is more than likely the culprit. Good luck!
