Default B16 build questions

i plan to build a B16 to swap into a EG hatch. this is going to be a track car so reliability is an issue. first of all i DO NOT want to turbo it. im going all motor so anyone with the opinion of turboing it can please refrain from telling me so.

plans right now are to get a B16, tear it down and have the block checked out, putting a balanced 1.8 stroker kit in and turning it to about 9k. yes i know i could start with a B18 and already have the displacement BUT B16s are cheaper AND since im already tearing it apart and rebuilding from scratch i might as well go a lil cheaper. plus the even a stroked B16 has lower piston speed @ 9K than a stock B18 which is part of the reliability. full top end build(springs, valves, cams, cam gears), standalone. jasper makes a racing tranny but im thinking thats more of a drag gearbox.

so basically im looking for 200-250hp at the flywheel(170-212 to the wheels).

so im looking for advice on parts, combinations that get good results. any help is appreciated.

you pretty much just said it. you will have more in the 1.8 stroker kit then you would with taking a b20 and getting some itr replica pistons and still turning 9k! But the b16 is different in the aspect of taking the smaller engine and trying to acheive more hp.

whatever you do try to go with one brand for almost everything, let's say since you're building your head as well keep it one brand like if you choose skunk2 for example do skunk2 cams, cam gears, springs and retainers valves and whatever else, also get some big injectors rc 550 would be great for your goals, and port and polish 3 angle valve job high compression pistons since is all motor and a good tune.

550 cc injectors are a little over kill and the b18 block GSR/ITR block is better because it is girdled and can be punched to a 2.0 instead of just a 1.8. Get a whole stroker kit if your going to stay with the b16 and don't try to piece one together yourself.
