Never had any use for 4x4..

From what I hear 4x2 if not needed yields less fuel cost/maintenance costs...

The Ridgeline isn't actually a 4x4. It's uses Variable Torque Management (VTM-4) which runs on the same principle as the Super-Handling (SH AWD) or Real-Time (RT AWD) that Honda also offers. A real 4x4 allows you to select which gear to be in. With these AWD, its sensors will tell it when to send power to the rear wheels, or the slipping wheel.

With that said, sounds like you'll be fine in a 2wd vehicle. We a CRV with the RTAWD and it works well in slippery conditions, but for what we mostly use it for (commute) a 2wd would have done fine. Then I also have a truck that's 4x4. We use that for mud and general asshat-ery. There's not too many situations where i NEED 4x4 or AWD though. It's just fun to have and play with. A lot of the time, I'm 2wd in mud.

Well.. i picked up a Tundra instead.. SO much more truck for the money.. Amazed at the prices Honda dealerships want for a V6 ridgeline... Picked up a V8 Tundra for less.

Seriously Honda needs to lower their prices on the trucks... still really nice trucks.

Don't get me started on how shitty / high priced american made trucks are... no wonder why they're going out of business.

Hahaha....

I love my F150.

What year did you get? My buddy was looking at the new crewmax, but that was ridiculously priced! Did you get a 4x4 or 4x2? Congrats on the purchase. Post pics if you're feeling inclined.

WELL I looked at Dodges.. they were wanting damn near 35k for a 2wd V8 Ram... And Chevy thinks they can justify outrageous prices because "they have onstar and XM radio..."

Anyway I picked up the 4x2, but It's not actually TOO bad because the truck has a nice LSD system.. so it does pretty well offroad. No snow/mud/water out here to worry about anyway out here in the desert lands.

4x2 definitely the right choice.

4x4 if you-
1 plan on offroading
2 live in the snow belt

what engine in the tundra?
