Alright so I just cleaned my engine bay following a guide on here. I covered my spark plug holes, intake, distributor, alternator. I cleaned off most of the water with a rag and all that and when i turned it on it fired up just fine but while it was. there was a thin whitish smoke coming from the head and then when I revved it after about 10 mins of idling. it shot water out the exhaust. not a ton but enough to freak me out.

did i totally just **** up my motor. I turned it off after i realized it was shooting water to prevent any more damage if i did any

please help!! haha I am freaking out

 

u sure it just isnt condensation....i would think if u did any real damage...ur car wouldnt run at all....

 

quite possibly. I might just be paranoid. I mean it kinda smells like I just didn't rinse off the cleaner from where the exhaust manifold is cause of the heat shield. thats what the smoke is i am thinking.

we took it for a ride a little bit ago and it seemed to run fine.
so you think its okay? it fires up just fine.

 

It should be fine, it wouldn't run right if you got water where it shouldn't be. It might very well be that you haven't noticed it before and it always dripped a little, I know it does when the humidity is high or if I stop at a crappy gas station and get crap gas.

 

I would say check your oil, if its milky then you got water in your motor. Im pretty sure its just condensation.

 

are you sure its just not you catalytic conveter doin its job?

 

I really have no idea. I am a first timer with this. I covered up the spark plug holes pretty good and I tried to keep direct spray off of it cause I am going to be stripping it soon. no need to go all crazy with it. I also would dab a towel and try to soak up the extra water that got around the holes just in case.

so I have no idea. it wasn't crazy amounts of water. but enough to warrant a post on here to find out ha.

 

ok the white smoke is just steam cuz your engine gets hot and the water evaporates. if you washed you whole car to then you probably just got some water in your exhaust. so no need to worry

well if you was like me fireing water out of my spark plug holes No. but if just a little then yo should be fine bro.
