Default SRT4 seats into a EK...

Didn't really know where to post this, but hopefully some of you can help me out. I got a set of SRT4 seats for free from a friend of mine and they are a huge upgrade from the stock civic seats. Obviously the mounting holes don't match up, but what I am wondering is if I can just pull the carpet back and weld these directly in, or if I should weld steel plates to the rails and then drill holes and bolt them in that way. Has anyone ever done a seat swap like this?

I doubt many of us including myself would know because who would out of nowhere stumble across a set of SRT4 seats. Rarely. My suggestion to you is to make your own bracket for the seats and probably welding it, drill holes, anything that will work. Just eyeball it man. Make that sucker work

You'll def want to think about a few things. If you have a center console/arm rest, will you be able to open it with the new seats installed? Do your stock seat belts attach to them? Are they too wide to even fit in your car? Will you be able to keep the stock reclinder function? Will you be able to slide the seat front/back?

And then start fabbing.

Yeah man take pics of your install. I think they would look too tall in a civic, but idk man.

I just got the car running over the weekend and it's getting the exhaust done right now at a shop, so once I get it back I'll pull one of the seats out and sit the other seats in and see how they look. Only thing I've found on the internet was a guy who took them and put them in a 1G Eclipse. I "think" it should be pretty easy to get them in, but I won't know till I get going on it. I need to borrow someone welder and test my welding skills or just take all the measurements and have someone weld it for me since the strength of the welds is kind of important from a safety standpoint...

yeah if youre not comfortable welding definitely get someone to do it for you. dont wanna get into an accident and be ejected because the welds on the seat rails snapped. im also votin for a DIY thread, even though ill never do this, id love to see it.

I've seen the fronts and backs in a Cavalier with minimal work done. Anything can be done with a welder. That being said, they are the comfiest seat I have ever sat in; I put a pair of SRT4 ACR seats in my turbo Neon.
Keep in mind that they are from a 4 door and do not have the swing-forward motion to access the back seat. That mechanism can be pirated from a 1st generation Neon and installed. Do whatever you can to make them work.

I don't have a back seat, the entire rear was gutted by the previous owner and painted. I've since gone junk yard hopping and at least found most of the plastic pieces to put back in so it doesn't look too ghetto. At any rate I think I found a easy solution to the problem. I'm ordering some generic race seat brackets, and I'm going to take the mounting tabs off the SRT-4 rails, then weld and bolt the rails to the new brackets. It sounds good in theory but I'll have to see how it all lines up when I get the new brackets.
