So i just bought this car and noticed when ever i turn the ac/heater the car starts to shake. The ac isnt working either ... 95 honda civic ex w/ abs automatic! thanks guys!

Probably your motor mounts.

 

Is it a constant shaking or you just feel it for a few seconds when you first turn the heat/ac on?

I have the same car and it shakes for a few seconds when the ac kicks in, never thought of it as a problem since everything works fine.

 

Is the shaking due to a low idle speed?

 

Either a weak alternator or motor mounts.

 

this is what i was thinkin, i tried rockin the motor i didnt get much play, the mounts dont look that bad either, but the tranny does shift a lil hard

its constant bro, and its a heavy shackin, like omg my cars about to fall into pieces, lol, i tried drivin for a mile but same ****

i doesnt seem like that kind of shakin though ...

hmmm alternator, never thought of that, but would it really cause the car to shake like this? yea im startin to lean twords mounts, but like i said they appeared to be fine, ima try and get you all a vid of the outside and inside ... thanks for the help guys!

 

What is it idleing at when their on? And guessing the alternator because right before my alternator went out if i only turned on my head lights it would cause my car to shake and ac heater same thing. I'm not sure how it would cause it but when i replaced mine after a while it stopped it.


Put a jack under your engine and jack it up from the oil pan and see if the motor moves up a lot or just a little. if theirs a ripped mount it will lift a good 4 inchs.

 

Does the shaking happen only when the A/C is running or also when just the blower is running? If it only happens with the A/C running, then remove the A/C belt to see if the shaking stops.

 

it looks like its the alternator. i had the same problem until i put a new alternator i found out that my baring was shot in the alternator. some time they go bad but if you have a chance take the belt off the alternator and try spinning it. if its hard to turn it its shot. hope this helps

i have this same problem with my 2007 honda fit sport. i was wondering if that could be the only reason that its doing that. i put my subs back in the car because my wife wanted to hear the subs again, so i did. then 2 weeks later, it started doing this? could it be the subs, alternator, belt or could it be the same problem that you had?
