I am going to be degreeing my skunk2 s2's in and I am confused as to what the difference between peak lift at the spec given VS centerline is. On skunk2's website(my sheet only has opening and closing) the cams spec's are:
Intake: Peak lift 94* ATDC
Exhaust: peak lift 112* BTDC
103* centerline

I was under the impression you rotate the crank till you reach the specified crank degree the cam is at peak lift, then adjust the cam till it reaches peak lift, but I also read the centerline is the crank degree the cam is at peak lift. What am I missing here?

I know how to search. Why are the centerline crank degree's different then the peaklift numbers?

 

Ok you know how to search but do you know how to read through the thread to see if it was covered?

 

The centerline is computed as the average of the opening at X lift and closing at X lift. This is often times different than where peak lift is.

forget about peak lift you just need to get the cams adjusted to numbers and the lift they spec on the cam card

 

On my sheet it only has the opening and closing @1mm lift, but on 1 2 nv's post he say's to use peak lift

 

Do both and see if they match. The .040 number is better. The radiused rocker and installed height, # of valve jobs, valve length, etc. etc. etc. can change the peak number, pus it lasts over several degrees, so you need to have done it a lot to understand it. 1mm opening, 1 mm closing and the math is alot more accurate to mfg. specs.

This is a great example of why people dont bother helping others on honda-tech. If someone doesnt spoon feed you the answer you start acting like a child. Good luck with your build.

 

It wasnt his question, and if you understood what I was asking and read that thread then you would know it doesnt answer what I'm asking.
