From EMS back to stock P28
I have a 92 Civic VX with an OBD2 D series swap, OBD1 distributor and injectors. It had an AEM EMS in it and ran great as a daily driver for over a year. Now I want to put it back to stock so I can sell the car. I bought a used P28 to take it's place. The engine cranks but it will not start. I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas of where to look because I have tried everything I can think of.
I'm getting fuel and spark!
The P28 doesn't throw any CEL's.
Battery is fully charged and kept on a battery charger overnight. Verified with a multimeter.
confirmed the P28 works in my 92 Integra. Runs it perfectly.
tested the coil and ignitor, then tried another set anyway.
Tested the plug wires, verified the firing order.
Put the timing light on it while cranking and it flashed, albeit slowly.
I can hear the fuel pump whirring with the key on. I pulled a spark plug after trying to start it and it smelled like gas.
I've read several swap DIY's and still can't come up with any reason why the P28 wont run my car. I'm thinking that something may have been done to the engine harness for the AEM, but I put all the wiring to stock and checked it over many times.

Do you have a link to some of the swap diy's? I am currently trying to run my 98 gsr with an obd1 distributor and i need to figure out which EMS to use. . . I have a 1020 and a 1000 as well as a p28 with s200b.
If you have the links i would appreciate it. I was having a similar problem, but my turbo engine starts with the p72 in it, but not with any of the other computers.

Your situation has absolutely nothing to do with mine, so those DIY's wont help you. However, to answer your question, you pick the EMS application that matches your engine harness. If you have an OBD1 harness, get an OBD1 EMS. You can mix/match engines/sensors all you want. No need to convert distributors etc.

my thought as well, it's about the only thing it can be. Unless with all the plug wiggling a wire broke.
Just keep in mind, stock for the VX is not going to work well with a P28... It should start the car but CELs will be present.

There isn't anything VX specific left. The VX engine was swapped out for an OBD2 D series. The 5 wire O2 was replaced with an AEM UEGO set up for a 0-1V output for the stock ECU. The EGR was removed.
The P28 gave me two codes originally, neither of which are critical to starting and running. One was for the O2 sensor heater due to the AEM UEGO, which I fixed with a resistor in line with the heater circuit, and the other was for VTEC oil pressure, which I also took care of.
Now there are no codes.

does the AEM EMS still start and run the car?
you may have popped a fuse or broken a wire.
other than that, it has to be something done specifically for the EMS.
No idea what it would be.
