I have a 94 Civic with a second-gen JDM B16A. Recently when I start my car there is a squeak and whine that comes from the alternator. It's only for a few seconds and happens every so often. Is my alternator going bad? If so, what year alternator should I get to replace it? Will any DOHC alternator fit? Looked online and the 95 Del Sol DOHC is more expensive than a 99 SI alternator. Just trying to find the cheapest and most compatible alternator for my engine. Please let me know. Thanks!

 

any 0bd1 B series alternator, assuming your harness is 0BD1 if your harness is 0BD2 you'll need an 0BD2......

 

if you have a JDM b16 no not anyone. Unfortunately they came with weird brackets.
you will need a alternator from a 90-93 integra.

 

and as mentioned before.
any b series alternator will fit given that it is NOT a jdm b16

 

If you have a D series on hand, it can work, at least for a temporary fix. The upper bracket may need to be ground a bit on the upper lip of the channel the bolt slides in.
I did it, it's not the best solution, but it got me to work until my new alternator arrived.

yes it will work. you can take the old alternator off and they will cross reference the part number and it's the same. i've changed mine 3 years ago and i've had no problems.

 

so is there a difference between 90-93 integra, 95 Del Sol DOHC, or 99 Civic SI alternators? Would any of them fit on my jdm b16 with any problems?
