Default How Do I Detect Vacuum Leaks?

Got idle and emissions problems on an '88 accord. Found the easy ones (hoses rotted in half) but I hope there's more, or else it's the emission control parts, the ECU, or maybe the carb itself.

Can anyone suggest tricks to finding vacuum leaks?

Thanks,
Marc

replace all the vacuum lines

Using some soapy water brushed onto a vacuum line can sometimes work.

Spray around with some crab killer looking for the idle speed to pick up when you hit a leak.

Or just use some ether spray.

Check your PVC valve.

lol. might want to check the PCV valve rather. unless, of course, you have some white plumbing piping under your hood. in which case, you might in fact have a PVC valve of some sort. which reminds me, i once ran into a car for sale in which the owner had created a CAI using some PVC piping, a few metal bands, some rubber grommets, and a generic high flow cone filter. make me laugh. i didnt buy the car, thats for sure.

Thanks folks. PCV will do. Crab killer? How about anything else that might be flamable?
