Default Questions about tuning?

not sure if this belongs here but i guess ill find out soon enough. i recently found what i thought and was told a very reputable tuner. i got a GSR basemap for my B18c with the usual header, intake, exhaust. vtec at 4800, rev limit at 8200, 2 step at 3200. 2 step worked fine, but on one night i missed 3rd ( it happens to the best of us ) and it went past 9k. and on the next day it seemed to pop in and out of vtec. i was puzzled, checked my oil, everything was fine. i called him and asked about his work, i soon found out he was an ***! he told me my tach could be off? cough... bullshit... cough, ive never really heard or expierenced this. but what would cause my vtec to pop in and out and why on earth would my tach be off? your help would be great.

Well i have never rev my motor to 9 grand but my tach is way off in my 94 del sol and i was told that the tach reads from the Dizzy. my tach reads around 9,000 but motor is only spinning at 8,400RPM...but you check everything that makes vtec happen...like oil PSI, ECU, wires, Dizzy...

OP, you missed a shift. It has nothing to do with your tuner. More than likely, you bent some valves. Do a compression and leak down check. That will help you to pinpoint the source of your problem if it is mechanical.

take some responsibility.

no rev limiter will stop an engine from over revving mechanically. Learn how to drive and get your **** fixed.

i wasnt pointing fingers, i simply asked the guy what it may be. i plugged my stock ecu in and everything worked fine. im puzzled as to what else it may be? my oil level is fine, vtec selenoid fine, and im assuming my oil pump and pick up are still in working order since my stock ecu is opperating fine.

That's wonderful. Now are you also assuming that these things are ok too?
