I *may* join the club..
Somebody presented me with an offer which is kinda hard to pass up. A '01 NBP ITR in a trade for my '99 MR GS-R. The ITR in question is 100% bone stock inside and out, my GS-R is riding on coilovers and an Iceman CAI. Now the deal is, he cannot afford the insurance and I belive he recently lost his job, so he needs something cheaper, so he likes my GS-R and offerd the trade. A few intersting points on his car, it was at one point broken into and had the interior stolen, so it has new ITR interior, but no # on the ITR plaque, so how esle can I tell which # this was? Also, it was involved in a fender bender on the drivers side corner. Evidently they did a very good job in repair it because I couldn't tell w/o first asking him (and later I could see the replaced fender bolts in the engine bay). That's all I know thus far of the car. I want the VIN to give it a run through carfax and see if it comes back with a clean title, assuming it does, what do you guys think? Anything esle I should check on the ITR that might give away something shady? Any help would be apprieicated
Ask the owner he should know. There is no other of telling what number it was as there is nothing pertaining to it on the car besides the plaque on the center console.
Thanks for the input thus far. Can anybody tell me how to identify a model # ITR w/o the plaque?
Sounds like a good deal to me as long as the carfax report comes back clean.
BTW, I dont have a center console badge number either, so I just call mine #001
Enjoy the car if you get it. Its definitely a step above the geeeser even when bone stock

and if he DOESN'T know the number on "his" R then you should take it away from him just because he doesn't deserve that car! i can barely remember what month it is, but i know 00-1380..burned in my mind!

Ask him, if he doesn't know, then it's very hard to find out, I believe there was a thread on this not too long ago, and someone found out what their number was.
I have gotten mixed answers from Acura on finding the production number. I remember there was a post by another with the information on a specific Acura Customer Service Representtive that helped identify his. I don't remeber who that is but maybe he or someone elase will see this and repost that information.
I don't know the number on mine either so hence my SIG:

Even trade for you GS-R? Sounds fishy (no disrespect for GS-R owners) because he can sell it for more than your car is worth. I dunno carfax it and go over ever little detail before you comit.
if his ITR plaque and number got stolen and he doesn't remember it, than you're fresh out of luck. i got my interior stolen and i used to be #416, now i'm #542...very weird

), as I understand it. Even if the plaque is gone, its still gonna be limited edition. And the plaque just adds weight anyways.
i'd be wary about the r. if it had been in an accident, a good body shop could have fixed the exterior parts well. unless you have an expert mechanic to look it over, i wouldn't make the trade. not worth the chance of big headaches...
