Distributor Question
I had an oil leek that was coming out of the head right next to the distributor. The oil leeked into the distributor and is now causing my engine to miss.
My mechanic refuses to clean it because he's afraid of ruining the distributor and having to pay for it out of his pocket.
How can I clean the distributor correctly without damaging it?

Disconnect the dizzy electrical connectors and remove the whole dizzy. See autozone.com for a perfectly good free online guide for doing so. You will need to replace either the o-ring or oil seal. See http://honda.lioness.googlepages.com/distributorbearing to stop the oil leaking. Depending, it might be a good idea to buy a whole new OEM dizzy housing or an entire new dizzy.
Thanks, The thing is my distributor is in good condition and the oil that leaked inside the dist. is causing a bad connection inside. Also I dont have money to by a $200+ dist. right now. So I was looking for advice as to how I can clean it without messing it up. Its my daily driver so I don't want to take a chance messing it up.
