Default A few Questions regarding Amp./ Speaker Specs.

What is the diff. between having 4 Ohm and 2 Ohm in sound?

There is this Amp that has this spec.

50w rms x 4 @ 4 Ohm and 100w rms x 4 @ 2 Ohm

Also when they say 600w speaker, do you mean its 600w per speaker or 300w each?

Sorry for the noobie questions

Thanks

the spec is just what it looks like, 50 watts to 4 speakers at 4 ohms, and the same but 100 watts to 4 at 2ohms. 2 ohm will always have more power.

it depends, what they could mean is 600 watts MAX between 2 speakers, or 600 watts MAX per speaker.
generaly you wont find a speaker with 600 watts Max or RMS, 300 MAX is more likely.

So 2 Ohm has a better sound quality than 4 Ohm or does is not matter?

About the speaker its a 6x9 and has a 300w peak power handling, So does this mean its a 300w each or 150w?

Not necessarily. It really depends on the listener, and the speaker itself.

What is the RMS wattage spec of the speaker?

The reason that it will have "more power" is because 2 ohms puts less resistance on the amp than a 4 ohm speaker. "ohm" is a unit of resistance. Think of a water pipe: if the pipe has a bigger opening(less resistance) it will let more water (power) through

SQ will be better at 4 ohms then at 2 ohms, on some amps it makes on diff. in the amps output if it is connected to 4 ohms or 2 ohms, RMS output is the same.

When dealing with audio look only at speaker "continuous power handling", [also called RMS power/wattage] and amp RMS wattage, ignore anything else, [max power, peak power, total power and so on] speaker powers are for each speaker.94

x2, most sq guys run at 4ohm's, the less distortion and cleaner signal the better.. yea MAX power is a marketing gimmick,, notice how sony/pioneer have 760w max ratings and such, thats all Bull crap to get you to buy it, i hate when people tell me they have a 1000w sony amp when in all reality its more like 400w rms@2ohms@14.5v, and thats usually slightly overrated anyways, real world power is gonna be about 325w rms..
