It's not uncommon for the exhaust side of the turbine housing to get some hairline cracks around the wastegate hole. I ran my old turbo like this for years and never had any problems with it.

ha ha it's not just that, i don't want to put so much money into a project an only be able to pump out only 300hp max on an A3 motor.
plus that's drag racing power. I drive 600+ miles a week it's definitly way too much power for a daily driver. An i doubt its very reliable.

What were you thinking in the beginning? Or did you just wake up one day and think hey, I want to slap a turbo on my car. Did you not think about what you wanted from your car before you made the decision to go F/I?

If it's built right, you won't have any problems with reliability.

sounds like you didn't want to install a turbo in the first place then. it's always a good idea to figure out exactly what you want out of your car before throwing money at it. simply buying random parts isn't going to get it where you want it to be.

i came up on turbo an other parts super cheap on ebay($300) but after seeing how much i was gonna spend on the project i didn't really care for it, N/A, k24/k20 swap is way easier an way more reliable. Not to mention cost effective. picked up a k24a2 for $1500 with 80k miles, not bad at all. all i need it the k20 head an kpro an im done. No oil filter sandwhich adapter, no drilling my oil pan, no wrapping my s#it in thermal wrap, an no dyno tunning. Easy peezy. With sufficent power gains.
