Icon7 ITR #544, we've been expecting you

Hey guys, purchased my R not to long ago, but didnt have a camera due to spending a fair share of money on the car. Well, I just bought a camera and though, "you know i really wanted to start a thread, and this car deserves to be seen."

Now the story on the car is that it was a California car, first owner blew the motor and wanted to sell the shell. The first owner ALSO had another motor, seats, and dash STOLEN, but managed to maintain a R-Title. Dash was replaced, front bumper may have been replaced (very shitty job on the paint matching) and motor was left to who-ever got the shell. Owner before me bought the shell and dropped in his race motor from a coupe. Motor was built at LDL in Vegas and the owner has dyno sheets that show the coupe making 700 horsepower on around 20 pounds.

Anyway, the car was up for sale for awhile on here, and he really needed to get rid of it and get a family oriented vehicle. Id been through a hatchback and a coupe before and really wasn't satisfied, so I started searching the forums (before the new search button...) and came up with the car. 98 Integra Type R #544. Car was bought about 2 weeks after I saw the initial post. =]
Flew down and picked the car up and drove it home. Long long drive. Didnt really mind it with the Recaro's, but since the motor had been a race motor, the car had stiff motor mounts, and i had to literally yell to my friend to converse on the way home.
A lot of people know that there are LS and GSR Integra's out there that are fakes or made to look like a Type R, I saw a picture in the post that showed the interior, and on the dash it showed the controls for a sunroof... A sunroof?!? WTF? Yea, my initial response. I already had the car at a buddys house to fix a leak, and began to panic. I ran a carfax which came up clean, and checked a few other things that did indeed prove that the car was infact an R.
Next day at my buddy's i looked for the sunroof controls, found a cover over them and created a thread on here asking about it. Found out the dash had been stolen and replaced and all was good. Motor mounts came out and were replaced with stock ones, leak that was coming from crooked cam seals was fixed, and a good washing took place.
Car has really not been through a lot since then because I still am in the process of gathering my ideas on what I would like to do to it. Front bumper will be getting painted within the next week or two (pictures will show the difference in shade between CW and... more of a tan white... hard to see in pics, but to the keen eye its there). Front fenders will both be taken off, dings/dents will be fixed (there is a little one on passanger side) and sprayed and a bolt-on roll cage will be purchased and installed.
As far as motor upgrades i have been really struggling on what route to take. Theres people that will argue Turbo over Nitrous (NOT NOS!) till their blue in the face. The major consern i have is that the pistons are 10.4:1 comp, now ideally boost applications are good around 9ish... My buddy who has a very quick Camaro (355 with a 600 shot pulling 9's and street legal (minus Nitrous.. heh)) has told me that my application would be perfect for spray. He said get a started kit that gives you 75-200 nozzles, and from reading on here and other sites most people are running 55,65,75... gah... We will see.
Other than that i plan on keeping the outside as stock as possible, I was however thinking about converting the front to a JDM front... but those things are a bit to $$ right now... Havn't had time to take it to my "spot" and shoot it yet, but bare with me I will, soon.

Now for some pictures!!! =]

Front Bumper... Hard to see... But you can really see it in this one:

Hope you guys like, and please excuse my photography, really just bought it a few weeks ago and am still getting familiar with it. Thanks!

Nice ride dude congrats. I think I'd miss the spoiler not being there and I'm not a fan of your lugs, steering wheel, and shifter, but for all that car has been through it's pretty clean though and I think you did great. What header is that? BTW having gone down the nitrous route myself with a previous R, I definitely wouldn't recommend that for an ITR. I've also had a turbo RS which was pretty awesome but I'm of the opinion (I know others here will disagree) that R was meant to be all motor or left stock. Leave FI for non b18C5's.

^^ The headers are DTR racing headers
mucho mucho expensive.. =]

yea, well, all motors fun and all, but its really seeming fast enough... 220ish hp n/a's around what its at right now, but i really would rather have it around 350-400...

Nice car, 220 n/a right now must be pretty crazy. I believe you have the ground on the valvecover in the wrong spot and aftermarket lugs on stock rims are "supposedly" dangerous. Just a heads up!

im in the same spot with my R. 220whp sounds nice to all motor guys, but anyone that has driven a 350+ turbo car will tell you its SLOW.

Thanks ill have a look at it when i get home.

Yea it pulls pretty nice, defiantly faster than my last two cars. But the idea to add a few extra horses with Nitrous for say... couple hundred bucks versus a thousand or so for a turbo kit?

Like my dad used to tell me about Nitrous vs. Turbo, some what like girls:

"Its like blondes and brunettes, you gotta try one and see how you like it" ;P

Congrats on the pickup. Before you dump much money into it...go over heR security real well and upgrade where needed. No point buyer a bunch of stuffs for heR only to have everything snatched.
Just say no to JDM/GheyDM front. Nitrous? Srsly??
Good luck mang..

Yea, already got that taken care of. That and having a next door neighbor who's a retired LA Swat trainer and a good skeet shooting partner.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I'll be sure to post pictures when the cage is in, and update about my struggle between nitrous and turbo. Lol

A long drive home is the best way to get to know one another! Keep her safe, and like the others said, keep the USDM front! And IMO needs the wing and timing cover back. Nice find though!

Yes, and it also needs the correct lug nuts on the wheels but seeing as this is Honda-Tech the owner prob wont give a crap about any of that, just doesnt look cool you know

Thanks guys
Anyone know of any wings for sale off the top of their head?

I'll check a few sites, and as far as lugs he liked um cuz they were red, matched emblems and interior. I personally don't have a problem with them.

Great story bro. Love it.

As for the JDM front, I say go for it. It's your car.

Stay N/A and track the fawk outta that thing, put that R suspension and cage to work.

The red aftermarket lugs won't seat correctly in stock rims.

^^ Thanks guys

Kinda starting to shy away from the idea of equiping it with a rollcage, since it will not be used as a time attack car... And no, it will not be gettin' juiced. I plan on leaving it naturally aspirated until I have the means to maintain a turbo car (and funds).
Things to take care of now is remove front bumper, passenger fender and rear bumper and have them resprayed. Front bumper is a different shade... And that doesn't fly... Passenger fender has a dent =O the size of a fist... And rear bumper... is really just starting to look like ****... Not my fault, but previous owner must not have cleaned it because it looks as though the exhaust was running rich, and when he stomped on it, it spewed black all over the rear bumper. That and then didn't clean it very well? Build up? I've been having this happen a little lately, but the damage to the rear bumper is already there... =/ Good scrub hasn't even taken it out..
Also the wear on the bottom of the front bumper since there is no guard or lip... Starting to crack...
Also, depending if I can find a good deal on a wing, I will be putting it back to its natural state (++ wing). And as I've glanced over other user's R's on here, I am really starting to like the look of the 5 spoke pattern (ie: Slipstreams and Spoon SW), but there seems to be no 5 lug white Slips... $$ is some what of a problem or I would most def. buy the Spoon's.

Anyway, I'll post an update as things progress!
