oil
^^ pretty sure its around there
but people will justify 4.0-5.0qts right at the top dot.
fill it with 4.0, then gradually add if you go over a tad bit it shouldnt really hurt it.
Will leak *found that out myself* but it will eventually level out.
(people doing 4-5qts for those that will argue)

When I did have a B series, I used just under 5 quarts. When the oil system is drained, the oil passages are essentially dry. When the oil passages are primed. Just under 5 qts will put you at a full dot.

Wow, the above posts have BAD INFORMATION that can damage your car.
DON'T PUT FIVE QUARTS OF OIL IN YOUR ITR!!!

First things first. According to the owner's manual, your oil should be between the top dot and the bottom dot on your dipstick. When we change oil, we normally put in enough oil so that the oil level is exactly at the top dot, so that even as the car uses oil, the oil level is still between the two dots. You don't want the oil level to drop too low (below the bottom dot), which can starve your engine and damage/destroy it. You also don't want the oil level to be too high, either, since this can cause foaming in the oil pan which can also be a problem.
The distance between the top dot and the bottom dot is a difference of exactly one quart. I've also been told that the distance between the bottom dot and the end of the dipstick is a difference of exactly one quart.
The owner's manual and service manual both say that, assuming you are changing your oil filter at the same time you are changing your oil, you should need 4.2 quarts of oil. However, I have found that the oil level on my bone stock ITR comes out at (or ever so slightly above) the top dot on the dipstick when I use exactly four quarts of oil.
DON'T PUT FIVE QUARTS OF OIL IN YOUR ITR!!! Just put in enough oil so that the oil level is at the top dot on the dipstick. I've found that 4.0 quarts works for me. The manual says 4.2 quarts. Use whatever amount puts it at the top dot on your car's dipstick. Which will almost certainly never be 5.0 quarts, unless you have some aftermarket equipment that increases the oil capacity.

It's not rocket science, and you don't need a graduated cylinder and pipette..
Change the filter, put in four quarts, run engine, stop engine, check oil level, and add until you're at the level you're comfortable with.
You're not going to starve the engine of oil at idle, and you're not going to put in 4.20 or 5.00 or 3.14159 quarts without checking the stick when you're done anyway...
The real answer is... 4+ quarts.
