can i re tap my oil drain?

my oil pan drain is stripped, i am wondering what size i should retap with. has anyone had any experience with this? thanks

You can tap it as long as its not aluminum, but i cant remember what size tap to use

You can re-tap aluminum. Find a drain plug that is a little bit wider and drill and tap it to fit, if you just re-tap striped threads then it will have a high chance of striping out.
