I have a JDM 98 S-Spec Prelude engine in my 93 Civic Hatchback and I currently have no AC nor Powersteering. Now I have heard many stories regarding getting Unorthodox's racing pulley and what it does to your oil pump and bearings. However I think with just leaving the stock pulley on there i am robbing myself of much power.

Now is there anything else I can do to lighten up the crank pulley without having to worry about major engine damage later on down the road. Espeically if I am planning on going turbo in a 2 years..??

Why are you so concerned about this? Save the wasted money that would be spent on the stupid lightened crank pulley and put it towards your turbo kit.

 

Does jack crap to put that on...You wont notice a dam difference ! SAVE your $$$ !

 

Because its just a huge peice of metal. I am using the Accord altenator that only has 5 ribs. The crank pulley stock on a prelude uses 6 ribs and another rib section for the powersteering.. All I am asking for is other alternatives that is all.. Taking off weight on that side of the crank would be very beneficial to the engine since I already have a lightened flywheel.

 

Just wait untill JG brings out theres that is going to have the harmonic balancing. From what i hear it should be out around november ish, if memory serves right.

if you're that bent on getting a pulley, get the alternator pulley

 

JG/Edelbrock unit will just be a rebadged ATI or Fluidamper piece.

Already have one. And like I said the alternator is not the problem. Its the big as
crank. But I think I will just go ahead and get the race pulley unless someone knows of any other source that fabricates pulleys with harmonic dampeners..

 

why not have the extra ribs machined off at a machine shop?

 

Yeah I am thinking that I may do that..
