Need help building a dune buggy with a sportbike engine...
Ok so I have this 93 Kawasaki zr750 sportbike with a wrecked front end.I've had it for years because I wasn't sure what I should do with it.Recently I've been very attracted to the idea of using it on a home made dune buggy.
Here's the kind of dune buggy I have in mind.
This guy made a dune buggy with almost the exact same engine as mine:

So what I want to know is:
1.Should I build it from scratch or buy a already built frame?
2.If I build it,does anyone know a good place to get plans?
3.Has anyone here ever done anything like this?If so please share your results.

Well it all depends on your skill, tools(tube bender, welder), budget. i would use 1 in mild steel, lightish and still strong enough. and find a whole front end off a quad( disk brakes, lines, wheels,a arms, steering, shocks) probabaly a newer 450 or 700 should have long enough a arms. if you can find a frame thats fits you and would either be cheaper or about the same price as building one go for it. but if you got the time and skill to build one id rather do that. o and im not sure how the guy in the link did his drivetrain but i would use the rear end out of a vw with IRS, my dad told me to use something when i was going to build one and it would have worked perfect i dont remember what he said though. but the buggy in the link is a really good design except the big triangle things sticking out the side for some unknown reason and the motor is really close to the head, i would have it behind the seat with a chain going to a huge sprocket with some kind of differential, just typing this makes me want to build one so bad, luckily you ahve the motor already because that is the priceiest part, good luck
