Default im new to this. planning to buy a DA

hey guys,
im really new to the world of 'car mods' but i do know a little basics. im planning to cop me either a 91 or 92 teg. now what im looking for is information on what types of things i should be looking for so i dont make a mistake on buying a good car.

and yes im a noob when it comes to all the car stuff so i also wanna know ANYTHING and EVERYTHING about cars and modifications. what certain things i should look forward to doing to the car.

ive seen many types of fixed up DAs and i love em! ive been wanting an integ for the longest time. in th beginnning, i wanted to cop me a 4th gen teg but way too many people here where i live have it. i wanna be different and when i saw the DA, OH MAN! i fell in love. =D

please help a noobie out.

The only body difference in the DA's between years is the bumpers and tail lights so if you like the 92 style from the earlier DA's you can always get an earlier one and just convert the bumpers and tail lights. One of the most common things that I look into a DA is if there is any rust. The car is very old and rust tends to be an issue on these cars. Other than that everything else is just preference and can always just be replaced if it dont work.

90-91 is OBD-0 has different front bumper and tail lights, 92-93 OBD-1 (different lights and bumper).

Always test drive the car, listen for strange noises, look for damage repair, usually body panels will have slight color variation if they just fixed the area that got crushed. If it has any major pull in the steering while driving it's usually due to bad front end colision. Make sure it isn't dripping oil, tranny fluid, anti-freeze ect. Basically be more questionable about the car when you test drive it rather than hyped which will make you over look alot of stuff.

look for a simply modded car. Dont buy a hunk of **** with a body kit falling off etc..... It is way easier when you dont have to go back and fix the previous owners mistakes

If the seller will let you, take it to a reliable mechanic. You may spend like $50 but he'll let you know what may need to be repaired, tuned or fixed.

Its kind of a silly thought...but if your lucky you may find a grandpa trying to sell his. You'll know then that the car wasn't driven hard and if that very far. I've seen only 1 guy on H-T who managed this one and he got himself a GS-R.

i have had some trouble with DA's...my buddies have had troubles and the most common one..is the Distributor. always a common problem on hondas..well the earlier ones. But its gonna be hard to find a complete stock DA with very lil body damage or rust..if you do prepare to pay..i would just stick to craigslist and see whats up..or you can always hit up

GSPEEDCORP.com...and buy a real import..lol

but good luck..post pics when you make your purchase we wanna see the project..

i agree, read up as much as you can. and if you find a stock teg, remember...just because you may be buying a stock teg does not mean its never been modified. The more you read and research, the more youll have an eye to find signs of abuse, neglect, etc

good luck!

my da pretty much fell into my lap. clean title, no body damage besides a deep dent in the hood, almost immacualte oem paint, little rust in the door jam and rear hatch glass.

first thing i did was suspension since my stock springs were cut or heated and it was raked, 3 finger gap in the front and tucking tires in the back, also i got rid of the 17's and threw on steelies with the stock hub caps. looks alright for the time being, i also took off the exhaust it came with and threw on a stock one, as well as the autozone intake. i went back to to stock airbox just in case i get pulled over again.

try to find one with maintenance records too. mine came with a stack of them as well as the original paper sign that cars have at the dealerships when they're new. ill post a pic of it later.

oh, and run the vin number threw carfax.
good luck man.

yeah they are hard to find. but, part of the fun is fixing what is necessary, and making it into something that you want.

I got a pretty much stock 93 Integra, $2k for it, South Carolina car, no road salts so there isn't a spot of rust on it. The only thing I really hate is the color, Red - sun fading looks horrible. I need to get a paint job and some nice wheels.

definantly hit up craigslist.org i found my mint 91 teg, one owner, completely stock, 95,xxx miles, non smoker, adult driven, for $1,800. one of the best places to learn about Da's is g2ic.com. it is a site devoted to the DA chasis. good luck with your project man. read up, and always use the search button.
