Should I change the timing belt tensioner too or am i fine?
I'm doing a new timing belt and waterpump change and was wondering if i'm okay with the same tensioner i have already? Is there a way to tell if I need to change for a new one?
Opinions vary. Id replace it as long as im in ther replacing all that casue itd suck to hav to go back and rip that all apart awhile down the road cause it went out.
p.s. you shoulda edited ur last post and added this in ther instead of making two posts.

^^ gotta agree... while your already in that area with every thing off you might as well replace it, would def suck if you replaced the belt an w/p an then 2 months down the road your tensioner takes a shiit... so your better off doing it know
i would have to agree with them, while you have it all apart its kind of rediculous to cheap out on something like that, might as well just do it and save the headache later on

I actually only replaced my timing belt at 90K because I didn't know any better, left the original tensioner and water pump in there. But then at 180K I replaced everything, although I had not had any problems out of the original pump.
Then at 270K I replaced everything again, including the tensioner spring. Belt is tensioned perfectly and I don't have to do any ghetto tricks like artificially tensioning the belt using pliers or a coat hanger.

Does anyone know what the brand of the oem tensioner is? Or is it just honda stamped? I'm trying to look for one at a cheaper price b4 I head out to the acura shop
