can i modify a tuned s300 ecu?
hey guys.
my friend has a boosted prelude converted to obd1 and is running hondata s300. he purchased the car running and sort of "tuned" but needs some minor issues adjusted.
i downloaded the smanager software from the hondata website. i don't have the car with me to test on right now but i was wondering if it is as straight forward as most other tuning options out there?
can i just connect to his ecu. download the ecu info to smanager and edit what needs to be changed then re-upload it?
any tricks/issues with doing this? something i should be aware of before it wipes all the info off his ecu and leaves him stranded? haha..
thanks.
fyi.. i do my own ecu tuning with ectune. just never played with hondata before.

There has been issues in the past with downloading calibrations from an s300. Hopefully, if they've fixed said issues, you should have no trouble at all.
I would go over every cell in the fuel/ignition tables to make sure nothing looks wacky.
I have had no issues downloading data from an s300 in a customer's vehicle with the latest software.

one concern i have though......the car was tuned on s300 over a year ago or more....i downloaded the latest version of smanager...do you think it will be a problem that the car was previously tuned on an older version of smanager?
i guess i should be able to tell by looking at the fuel/timing maps? as long as they are not all out of wack it should be ok?
