Today I washed the car and when I had the right front rim in the work I got a heart attack! The rim border is bent, but still repairable with a hammer I think.
I remember a big bumper in the road 8 days back, but I did not noticed the damage. DAMN, this happend with 225/45/16 tire. I think those light weight rims are not as strong as usual heavier rims. I drove 3 years with 225/35/17 and hitted for sure some bumpers, but nothing happend.
Well, I think that is the price for performance.
Christian - who thinks 5 instead 4 rims would be better.

Do you mean speed bump when you say "bumper"? I'm assuming so. Yeah, those Volks in order to be so light sacrifice a lot of strenght.

I'm sorry did you say the rim border was bent and you were going to take a hammer to it??????????????????

I once repaired the inside rim of my niche shocking shocks with a hammer. I covered it with a towel and went to town on it. It stopped leaking air and went back to regular shape. Drove fine until april 25th when my prelude was stolen, the guys took the rims off and resold the car (i think) to some rican and the rican got caught with it. I got it back with prelude si alloys on it. Hopefully the niche's will fail on him and he will die

Pot hole = \_/
Speed bump = _/\_
And California has its very own rain runoff troughs, which can be worse than either of the above.
