Default Timing off?

Ok, so i noticed if i take off from second gear and if i try to accelerate hard like half throttle it struggles and if i floor it it struggles way more but if i keep it at a quarter throttle it will pick up decent below 2200 rpms. Is this normal for a Honda engine? or maybe the timings off?

My first thought is check the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, as well as the ignition timing as mentioned. I think you can free-rent a timing gun from AutoZone.

Everything is new. it runs great idles perfect. its only if i push hard on the gas under 2200 rpms it boggs out. and when in V-Tec it sounds like a **** load of tiny flames are coming out my header. my brother said it sounded like it wanted to blow lol. i think it is pre detonation not sure though.

You need the lower belt cover to check the mechanical and ignition timing. Where the heck is your cover and why run the engine without it?

well i broke it off and melted it with the torch because i couldn't get my big pulley bolt off and need to set the timing and put the new belt on.

So i guess i can't check my timing lol.

Get replacement upper and lower covers. They are absolutely essential to check the timing and protect the belt!!! Have you tried a junkyard?

Bring PB Blaster, a big *ss breaker bar, and a screw driver to block the flywheel from turning.

Not necessarily. Soaking in PB Blaster should help. Alternatively, borrow or purchase a hex tool.
