Default Honda South Africa

Hello from South Africa. I am the proud owner of a 1999 Honda B16 Vtec Turbo. It is a 4 door sedan & does not share the Civic name with the hatch. In SA it is called a Ballade. I have posted a few pics to give you guys an idea of what it looks like. In SA Hondas are not as popular as they are in the US for racing, which is why mod part availability is poor. To get decent parts, you have to talk to the guys who import, & this is VERY expensive. I have done quite a bit of work on my car & it should (hopefully) at high boost see close to 400hp. I need some help with the suspension however. I am not sure what to do here. The car is not a dedicated drag car. It is still a street car & will require a setup that is reasonable for that application. I will, quite often, put it on the drag strip or track & it will have to get the power to the ground efficiently. What do you guys think of Megan. There is a guy locally who can get coilovers, tie bars etc. Advice here will be most welcome.

For some reason I never pictured hondas in Africa. I always pictured some one butt naked riding a zebra.

Ha Ha!! We encounter this problem all the time in SA. This is SOUTH Africa, not deep dark, drought stricken, impoverished Africa & we are as urbanised here as any '1st world country'. I have, in my life, never actually seen any wild animals in their natural environment, just a few times in a zoo. Here we have cars like the M3, Lambo, Ferrari, GTR, Porche, basically a vast array of performance cars.....not just off road vehicles!!! In fact a friend who visited the US a few years ago said that our roads are actually better here. Racing: drag, oval track, stock car, V8, etc is very big. For your sake though, I hope when you imagine someone riding a Zebra naked, it is someone of the opposite gender, if not....you have issues!!!

Off the top of my head, & I know that I will forget quite a bit: B16 Vtec with a posted & O-ringed block, 76mm exhaust & downpipe, T3/T4 hybrid Masterpower turbo, Gotech Mini Pro Management, Walbro Fuel pump, Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods, Arp head studs, custom intake & exhaust manifold, larger throttle body, intercooler, Snow performance boost cooler......& that is all I can remember at this point.

It's all pretty much done at this point, just waiting for the the larger plenum chamber intake manifold to come back from sand blasting & I can bolt it all together. In terms of the suspension, there is nothing done apart from some lowering springs, & this is why I need some direction here. I simply must get the power to the ground. I intend putting in a half rollcage, thicker anti-roll bars, traction bars tie bars, sway bars etc......but I am not sure which affordable brand to look at, considering that the parts will, for the most part, have to be imported. I also need some clarification because I can never remember, which are tie bars & which are sway bars?

The wing is actually coming off. It was a moment of F&F madness. I never actually liked it, but a couple of friends talked me into it. I noticed in NFS Underground 1 that the 2 door Civic has a much higher spoiler than the 4 door. I think this is the type of spoiler I want. I have seen one similar on an Alfa that will probably fit.

What about Megan racing height & dampening coilovers? This I can get locally. Tein is ridiculously priced in SA at R15 000 ($1500). Megan also has an H brace, tie bars, etc. The coilovers cost R9000 ($900).

Ah I see that your using the Sonar Projectors. I can feel better about myself because I have them too or the same exact style as yours. Over here, they call them Angel Eyes, JDM people aren't so fond of them, or just only the people I know.
