Default Weird grease/fluid around drive belts EG2

Ok the initial symptom was that my battery light turned on. The next day I look around and found all this weird greasiness around my drive belts and on the hood ( the part facing directly above the belts and pulleys, and nearby areas. I checked brake fluid, its topped. Clutch fluid, topped. Engine oil dead on between the two holes on the dipstick. A friend said it could be A/C compressor oil. . . but would it really leak unto the drive belts like that? Any other suggestions? Also checked CV joints, and no crack in boots, etc.

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Ideas?

Car is an EG2, stock internals. It has P/S, and A/C. P/S has had the belt removed for about 2 weeks now.

yes it could be a/c oil but in order for that to be the case the a/c would not work.

Is it oil..or grease? Two different things. If its grease you might have an inner or outer CV Boot busted and its slinging the grease out all over the place.

clean it all off, put it on jackstands and start it up in gear and look under there...make sure you wear eye protection so if somthing is getting slung around you get blinded by it.

Cleaned it. It had nothing to do with my problem ( don't get me wrong I appreciate all your suggestions!!!) I'm writing to tell the solution. Took it to a auto-parts store. They tested my car to see if the alternator was working etc. It wasn't. . . according to the machine. I told the guy, " Hey, put the tester on the screws, since the terminals are painted" The terminals are those black and red terminals in auto-zone and similiar stores. He did, and the machine read my alternator was working properly. Turns out those terminals are ****. I bought regular $2 terminals, installed them, and the problem was gone.

Cliff notes

1. battery light came on but car worked fine
2. Changed terminals
3. battery light gone.

The greased probably is coming from a pin hole in the inner boot.
