ok guys i recently did the a6 cam in either a b7 head or b2 head im wondering if its the same? but anyway im also using the y8 cam gear to but i installed it and after it was done it started up fine but i made sure my timing was rite by using a timing light gun and the top dead center white mark on the pulley is slightly off a little bit between the two notch' s on the timing cover im wondering why it is off when i setted the the cam with the arrow facing up with the TDC rite in the notch's on the timing cover why is this happining or is is like that? it feels like my car picks up slow like the timing is off.
On the crank pulley there should be three red marks close together and counterclockwise from the white TDC mark. With your timing light and the engine fully warmed up (fan has come on twice), you want to set the timing so the center red mark lines up between the two pointers on the timing belt cover. The center red mark is at 16 and 18 degrees BEFORE TDC for the stock D15B7 and stock D15B2, respectively.
