Default ZC head VS Y8 head

I read somewhere that the Y8 is the head to use on a D series motor, but I also noticed that stock for stock, the ZC motor makes more power than a Y8 motor...

I know that the ZC is DOHC and the Y8 is SOHC V-Tech... which is the better head for a turbocharged application?? Which one is more expensive?

OK, the Z6 (92-95) and Y8 (96-00) heads will work with with your d series motor. The Y8 head is better because it will be newer with less miles, and the dist. will bolt right up. With both heads, you will get higher compression. Thus making it not a very good choice for forced induction. Unless you change the pistons, then turbo it. Then you can have VTEC and boost. A lot of people are happy with thier ZC. I just put on my Z6 head on my A6 block but haven't started it up yet. So I can't tell you if it's good or not. But if you're going for tubo then go with the ZC.

We will be turbocharging the motor, but we will also be using forged dished pistons as well as a thick head gasket... Why do you recomend the ZC head over the Y8 head for a turbo app?

Oh I didn't read the post thoroughly. lol
I thought you were going to swap in a ZC motor. I'd go with VTEC. Newer head, and more parts available.

Could be wrong but I don't think a ZC head will work with your engine.

Yeah I don't think Y8 or Z6 heads fit on ZCs... unless you get a SOHC ZC.

There is a rare sohc ZC. My point was that you can't put a dohc head on a sohc block, or vice versa. I think...
