Default installing a new FD ?'s

so, if i was to get either the JDM or ATS FD, where would be a good place to take to install? i dont really have the tools to do it myself nor do i have the mechanically inclined friends to help with it< if it doesnt involve neon, lowering or stereo's, they dont know..> i live down in SA TX so im not sure where i should take it. a reputable tranny shop? take a drive to austin or dallas and have a perf. shop there do it? any advice would help alot.

ps. i did a search and what i got was just advice on buying or the pros and cons of having the FD

oh yea, and given the choice, which would most of you go with. new clutch/flywheel or the new FD on the R?

you're looking at having the tranny torn apart, plus replacement of several seals and the like (those hidden costs!).

all in all labor won't be cheap at a shop...

to give you an estimate....$500-$1000 for everything.

---

I need an LSD installed and am really close to pulling the tranny myself. I too have no one around here who could help either

500 bucks for labor? Has anyone had a shop do this for you before? I'd like to know the pricing on the labor for myself as well.

If you want to make the trip to Austin and have it done give Tyrone a call. The shop number is 512-238-9923. He's pretty well know around Austin as the man to fix anything honda, as well as too many swaps to count.

Honestly, if you have to make a road trip to get the work done, you should be putting in a lighter flywheel and clutch/pp at the same time as the FD. They will compliment eachother to some degree, and you'll save yourself money by doing it together.

I agree, you should do everything at the same time. And it is gonna save you money if you do them seperatly down the line.

call Ben Schaeffer(Scaeffer's Import Auto Care) in Woodbine, MD.. he's just a drive out 32 for you.. he's got my tranny torn apart right now.. and he's a very good honda mechanic.. PM me if you want more info.. i think several h-t.com members use him for bigger things than they like to do themselves..

I do fd's regularly but I'm in socal

I suggest you go to your local honda/acura dealer and ask if any techs are interested in some sidework.

You should be able to get it done for about 150-200.
