my car won't start for the first time.
so i was just driving on the highway (after about a mile, 5min, leaving home) and the motor completely stopped running. immediately the battery light and oil light turned on when it stopped running, as i pulled to the shoulder. after i stopped, all lights were still on so i tried to start it. all lights lighted up normally like it would and it cranks but doesn't start. can't be the battery or starter. alternator??? my alternator does squeak for about 2 sec after i started (back when it did start). i do have enough oil in there.
what else could it be?
95 integra ls

im getting fuel after testing the spark. i can smell it. but none of the spark plugs are getting spark. distributor?? it's rotor is fine. wires? i can't think of anything else. im not well educated with cars. the belt on the alternator seems fine as well.
you might find a coil in the junkyard...Iam not sure if Acura or honda would sell you just the coil...I say find your local dealer and give the parts department a call.

would one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA...Q5fAccessories work?

^^ no. thats just a cap. it won't fix our problem. i was reading the helms manual and i was reading the "ignition coil test" and the "ignition wire test". i did the wire test and the resistor on my wires are pretty good shape. however as i was trying to take out the screw that hold the distributor rotor off, i stripped it. it was a bad strip, just a one turn strip. i didn't want to continue because i knew i would only making worse.
i was reading the "ICM input test" as well. So now i think it's either the ignition coil or the ICM. It has to be it. I have fuel and power. the only things that is left is anything between the distributor and the spark. But now it's gonna take some time since I strip my distributor rotor screw. Im just gonna try to sand or cut it down to a big flathead would fit it.
let me know if you got yours started.

First:
I dont think the link i posted is just a cap. As far as i understand my issue is the coil and this kit includes an external coil, so i believe i would fix my problem.
Second:
My motor is not stock, so maybe it would be a worthwhile upgrade?

Iam sure it's the coil...as for the screw, just take it off using some needle nose visegrip pliers...goodluck, and then buy a new one from honda.

i had a similar problem in a b18c1 and seems to be that the chip had a problem and at 6500 rpm burned the coil...so we changed it and the same problem but finally was the ECU so we checked the parameters and then the car runed fine...
that worked for me and the same thing happened to me on the highway cruzing normal and it was a ripped timingbelt so hopefully not but check out the belt.
That's a good point as well, even the jumping of a cam gear on a bad belt can put u off timing, and your car will not start.
hmm my belt is brand new :-/ hopefully its not that. I went ahead and ordered the MSD kit...new cap, rotor, and external coil...hopefully that will help but ill keep you guys posted.
Ive been told its a bad idea..and i kinda agree..one breakdown requiring a tow will probably make up for the price difference. I was thinking about ebaying a new OEM one.
so i finally got some time to take some testings.
for the primary winding resistance i got 0.9Ω - 1.0Ω (suppose to be 0.6Ω - 0.8Ω). for the secondary winding resistance i got no reading at all, not even a zero read. replace the coil? is there any other chance that something else gone bad the same time? that screw was a pain. never want to do it again.
