how difficult ..

I've never pulled an axle on a SOHC car. It just takes a little bit of work to move it around and find how it'll get around it. I've also taken them out the top but that wasn't any easier.
i have a b -series swap in mine and i never took off axle, to much hassal. I switch my alternator 2 months ago and i took off the bake booster instead. I was easy. 2 bolts only. I haven't tried SOHC. If it's a SOHC try going through top.
the way i got mine out from the top was to unbolt the brake master cylinder and pull it out and push it upwards out of the way, then i had my friend hold it there while i yanked out the alt.
yea 2 options....from top remove the brake booster/master cylinder outta the way or from underneath, removing the drivers side cv axle. i always took axle route doing it...imma pro at it now haha
Why take out the axle or the booster? I've just always pulled the motor j/p. But really I've just taken it out down by the axle never had to pull the axle out just leave the key in the acc position so you can move **** around.
Wow u guys are going way out your way. i change mine with a b-series swap threw the bottom of the car, all you have to remove is the oil filter thats it.
removed the oil filter?? sounds a bit messy to me...but if you say so lol...ill stick with the good ol take that damn drivers axle out
I've got a 90 CRX Si. Had the alt go out on me about 10 miles east of the Hoover Dam (damn!). Limped into Kingman AZ about 60 miles later and swapped in a new alt in the parking lot of Autozone. Had to unbolt the brake fluid reservior from the master cyl. Kind of a pain, but better than having to drop an axle without a lift handy.

didnt have to take the axle out. got started round 2, didnt finish till 8? did it outside of an advanced auto so i could use they're tools. im up at school so i didnt have ne besides sockets and im tight with some of the workers. had to have my buddy thats the assistant manager there call a local, he came and tried things i had tried over and over, the pivot bolt was frozen in there so he had to go to his shop 30 mins away and get a torch and tanks, that got it to budge. but yea, no axel had to be moved, just un did the inner wheel well/ alternator belt splash guard.
well i guess if your on the side of the road or doing it in an autozone parking lot then removing the master cylinder is the best route. i however have a garage full of tools and have never had to improvise.
