Here are updates on problem that I posted Saturday and so many people tried to help. I put new rotor, cap, wires and plugs in on Saturday. Car started right up and idled fine twice. 2 hours later I pulled out my my driveway and only got 1000 feet. Car just cut out and died. It has no spark. Timing belt is okay! Per advice from this site I had the ICM tested at A-zone Sunday evening, it was good so I told the weekend guys I would be back with the coil when I could get the frozen screw out. I finally got the coil out and took it to A-zone today. 3 of them, manager included said they can only test modules! They also acted like the car was an antique with "an old TEC distributor". I mentioned the helpful folks on this site and one of them looked around and found out that they can test coils with a meter! Now the weekday guys know what the weekend guys did. BUT, the coil is good! So WTF?? The manager mentioned a cam or crank sensor as a possible culprits. He also brought up stupidity like fuel pressure. I HAVE NO SPARK! IT SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING! NO WARNING, NO SPUTTER! He asked if the distributor was getting juice, and I said I have no way of knowing, "how would I know?" and he went duh, duh, duh. I am not an auto electric shop! The manager said to take the whole distributor to have it tested. I asked where, "duh, duh, duh" again. Do any of you Honda Gurus have any other guesses? Remember it is not the timing belt, stop mentioning timing belt please.
P.S. Yes I did try the old rotor and cap.

I had a similar problem with my 99. There is a recall on 96-00 Honda Civics. Call up your dealer and get your car an appointment to have the ignition switch replaced.
Hope that helps.

I did the recall thing a few years ago. The key still turns on all the electrical! Windows, locks, radio............all work! No spark is the problem.
I will check all the fuses, again. I did not realize my spare fuse kit is not good with this Civic or even my Outback Sport. My kit was bought for my 89 Civic.
So, do I shoot the Civic or myself?

you can check if its the main relay. you should hear 3 clicks. when when you turn the key to on, second for fuel pump third when you start car it should click right before u start. listen carefully.

The MAINe RELAY? Is that like the Boston Marathon? LOL I could not resist seeing as you are from Maine. Cannot be a ground. The only one I ever touched was when I was hooking up the fogs and I showed that connection to the buddy that towed me back home Sunday. I will go through it all the stuff before I have it towed to some ripoff shop. I do have another car to drive.

If the fuel pump is priming, then the main relay is fine.
Does the distributor get power?
Test: Remove cap and rotor to get access to ICM. Remove the Blk/Yel wire. Turn key to ON(II). You should measure 12V at the wire to ground. If not, the distributor is not getting power.
If you have power on the Blk/Yel wire, the diagram shows additional tests to do. The tests on the Yel/Grn wire would be where to go next:

that looks like a job for tomorrow depending on weather here in the northeast. thanks for the write up , will be back here with an update when I finally check it.
hope this helps http://www.batauto.com/Forums/index....e;topic=7415.0
my bets are either ignition switch or main relay. I think the 92-95 civics have more main relay problems then 96+. I looked up my hx one time and was not included in that recall only the driver's side floor mat and then something where honda entered an agreement with cafe and extended emmisions warranty untill 10 yrs or 150k miles and I got a free tune up and oil change, cleaned egr ports also new primary o2 sensor and even got a new ecu. But yeah start checking fuses and make sure the fuel pump is working.
