Default ATTS light

I have a 97 Sh and this stupid ATTS light keeps coming on on me. This is what ive done so far to try and correct the problem. I should just get the code checked but Ive decided to go for trial and error.

1.) Changed with ATF honda fluid

2.) Pulled radio/clock fuse

3.) Pulled negative battery

4.) Checked for loose connections

Still comes on intermittently. It usually comes on when I go above 60 MPH.It is honestly frustrated and irritating to see a bright yellow light in your dash.

ANy suggestions?

Pull the code yourself. It's the exact same as a DIY CEL. Then take the code and read about it here:

That's a good reading, but it's not going to help you at all with troubleshooting. You need the helms.

What do you mean this will not help my trobleshooting? Won't this lead me to the problem? I dont know if i am missing something here, but this ATTS unit is being a PITA. Is there another method of trobleshooting?

Each code code has it's own troubleshooting flow chart..same as troubleshooting an ecu code.

If you don't have a helms download it here: http://www.spoonertuner.com/manuals

FYI, mine comes on randomly as well. So I just turn the key back while moving and then restart the car. ATTS light goes away until the next random trigger. I haven't bothered to troubleshoot it yet, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the oil pressure sensor I just replaced.

Mine will occur everytime I drive. It will stay off for about 10-15 mins after startup and then it pops up. Im hoping its something simple to fix. Ive been reading everywhere about this unit and its a PITA no matter where I read about it. Especially, when you have to remove the unit. Will taking the ATTS fuse remove the yellow light from the dash? I know there is a ATTS fuse and ATTS unit fuse. i just cant stand seeing it everytime im driving.

Fix the problem and the light should go away.

ATTS is pretty reliable. I've had one problem in the 4 years I've had the car; the fail-safe relay failed, $15 part. A member who races in the Honda Challenge series used his SH and ATTS for 3 years without any problems with it before going to a Quaife. That was only because he wanted to go to a shorter final drive and hondata. He says he preferred ATTS over the Quaife in terms of actual operation and effectiveness.

I just pulled the ATTS codes and got 61 and 62. I looked it up and it looks like both are oil pressure. Anyone know how do you correct this problem?

I got code 61 when one of my oil pressure sensors was broken. I fixed that ($50 used vs $280 new) and now I'm getting codes 19 & 43.

if you haven't already, download the helm's (or buy it at helminc.com) and make sure you did the drain/fill correctly and with the right amount of fluid. make sure the car is level when you do it too.

The attached PDF is coming directly from my repair manual and is the dealer diagnostic flowchart for ATTS DTC's 61-66 therefore will cover both DTC's you are tripping, let me know if you need any help.

Uhhhh maybe on an unrelated note, you put automatic tranny fluid in a manual transmission car!

:O

yes, you're supposed to. it's not a transmission, it's a differential.

We're talking about the ATTS unit, which is an automatic transmission.

I was at my girlfriends house and did checked the codes there. I started the car and drive back home and the ATTS light did not come on once. And this is driving for 20+ mins on the freeway and street. I will continue to monitor and see what happens. I am pretty sure the light will come back on tomorrow.

I am planning to drain and fill the system again. The last time I did the procedure, I did not have the car leveled properly. I will try and see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks everyone for there input...I will keep everyone posted and is hoping that the light stays off!

so i'm unclear as to what changed. you said you had changed the atf in the original post, but that the light was still coming on intermittently. did you change it again and now it's not coming back?

Well, I drained and filled it again. I was thinking that I didnt change it correctly so, I decided to drain and fill once more, but it didnt work. For the past 2 days the ATTS light did not come on, but when I was coming back from class it came back on.

I wanted to test the unit on a turn so, I made a hard right on a corner and light comes on a few seconds later. This system is finicky as hell. I was driving normal with some occasional hard turns in the past two days and then today I test it again and it decided to pop up.

Codes 61 and 62 are oil pressure, but so are 63-65. How would you attempt to fix this?

By level do you mean both front wheels off the ground? or the whole entire car off the ground?

How do you know which oil sensor is broken?

Stop being lazy and look at the helms. It's pretty damn obvious if you look at the troubleshooting section for codes 61-66.
