I had the same issue you have. And it was my master cylinder that was going bad. Replaced it and it fixed my brake pedal issue.

i heard there is a seal on the back side of the master cylinder, where it bolts to the firewall. im assuming something like an O ring? air is escaping from the lines or master cyilinder somewhere but no fluid leakage anywhere. and the master cylinder is always topped off.

Its your master cylinder. You want awesome breaking power?

1. Go get a new master cylinder.
2. Go to autozone or advanced auto and buy a vaccum bleeder. (its $30)
3. Bleed your breaks with the vaccum bleeder and by pumping the brakes.

We did this in my EG and you would of thought I had a big brake kit on it or something. LOL. Works great.

Get a master cylinder for a DA, they are beefier. I have the exact same problem and if it's not my rear drums leaking pressure, then my master cylinder is shot. So I'll probably pick up a DA one for a little more power

Way easier and cheaper to get a master cylinder rebuild kit. Then to replace.

yup thats what im doin, if i keep it pressed constant, then its fine. but if i press hard, let up just a tad, ill lose all pressure and gotta raise off it again.

Get as new mc. Preferably honda oem. Don't waste your time with junkyard brake parts.

Vacuum bleeders are not as good as regular 2 man system. I don't recommend it.

you just need to fix whats broken with the right part. no need to "upgrade" if the rest of hte system is the same.

It won't bolt up. You need to swap out the booster to do just a regular DA one.
You can get the one for the EX which is slightly bigger, but there is no point.

Upgrading the MC without doing anything else to the system reduces brake feel. A larger bore MC pushes more fluid per stroke. Figure you press the brake pedal down 4 inches and the MC dispenses 'X' amount of fluid to the calipers. Replacing the MC with a larger bore will dispense more fluid in the same amount of brake pedal travel. This reduces the distance you need to push the pedal down before lock up your brakes - therefore it reduces the zone in which you can modulate the brakes.

did you recently have the brake system bled the old fashion way? doing it that way on a old mc can cause leaks. i always use a brake bleeder to suck out the old fluid. when you do it the old way, you will push the pedal further than it normally goes and this will cause the seals to weaken

Maybe don't push the pdeal down as far?

Seals and pressing the pedal all the way down shouldn't be an issue on a rebuilt or new MC. The entire bore should be freshly honed so there won't be any lip from wear for the seal to catch on.
