dsm 450cc injector pintle caps cracked off?

dsm 450cc injector pintle caps cracked off?
swapin these in but one pintle cap is cracked at the top. i was told all the pintle cap does is protect the pin. will i be fine with takin the caps off and just very carefully puttin them in the block?
