Question on Honda S2000 Clutch.....
I'm considering replacing an OEM clutch for an o1 s2k. Any recommendations on a reliable and good priced clutch?
I figured I should go for an aftermarket high performance clutch if any, but then again I am completely new to the s2K.

^ bothj good choices but if you want a lil more clamping force and friction get a act hd pressure plate and street disc i plan on going this route once my clutch goes hopefully not anytime soon
i would not do the exedy oem replacement, the pedal feels softer than stock with that setup. however the exedy stage 1 organic is really nice. thats what i plan to put in mine once it goes bad. but im only at 30k miles and its an 03 so it might be a while.
if you're on stock power, then no need to get anything else other than oem.
i'm about 10-15 whp over stock and i have the Exedy oem. i do about 15 autox and a hand full of track events a year. the Exedy oem also got rid of my clutch buzz.

so most of u stated to check out the oem exedy clutch replacement for the 01 s2k.
mods are currently only bolt ons. would this be the best bet?
what website would u recommend for price/shipment?

I got the act hd pressure plate with street disc (383 ft lbs) and 8 lbs fidanza flywheel. The clutch is great, catches perfectly even when burning the clutch after launches. My favorite upgrade was the flywheel. The car revs so freely and heel toeing is a lot easier and quicker. The shifts are lightning fast, chirps into 3rd with new tires even.

The stock clutch will be fine. A light flywheel would be fun. AP1 flywheels are around 13 or so LBS. So they're pretty light....but a 8 or 9lb flywheel would be fun. Ebay usually has the best prices, but sometimes I question the seller's authenticity. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I've ordered tons of stuff on eBay and never gotten anything that looked or functioned like a fake.
Try thmotorsports.com. They usually have excellent prices on stuff.
I bought an Exedy Hyper single. I have just bolt ons. Overkill? yes. But I got it durrty cheap ($900 as a unit with the flywheel). I also got a shop to install for $300.
It's a ridiculously fun clutch to drive...but definately not a daily driver/traffic clutch. It makes all sorts of hilarious noises trying to take off. It's more like an on/off switch than a clutch. It revs like a motorcycle due to the light flywheel and weight massed in the center.
I thought the clutch buzz would go away...but the joke's on me. It's a racing disc...so it makes all sorts of noises on decel also. I think it'll be a ton of fun on the track.
I'm not sure why I mentioned all that.
My lightweight disc makes a humming noise on decel. I think it's cool cuz people look at it and think "d4mn, that $hitz hooked up." revving in neutral is hilarious, it revs like an f1 car.

Why do people think it's hooked up if it makes a humming noise? Lightweight disc or lightweight flywheel?
Personally, the famous S2000 clutch buzz makes me think something is broken or the car is a piece of crap... The SPEC stage 2 in my car is quite noisy and it's very annoying. People who ride in your car think it's dumb and annoying, not cool. Maybe if it was a triple plate carbon clutch or something it would be acceptable, but for a full disc sprung hub... a street clutch should at least make an effort to be quiet.
The ACT clutches are well known and respected in the S2000 world. There were isolated complaints of thrust bearing wear, but they are still the most popular non-stock replacement clutch. They are known to be quiet and work well for most moderate performance turbo and SC setups.
